Last Day

The team traveled yesterday from our closing celebration in Veracruz to Chetumal for dinner at the 'famous' Dios Taco's then headed to Bacalar for the night. This morning we traveled to San Isidro, site of the first water purification system as well as other mission trips in previous years. We were joined by Susan and the entire Edumunds-Linnares family for a special visit that included a tour of the very successful water purification system. We were also treated to fresh oranges and corn-on-the-con with chili powder and lime! We have now arrived in Playa Del Carmen for a little (hot) R&R before heading home tomorrow morning. Thank you all for your prayers during this incredible mission experience. Please continue praying for safe travels tomorrow and please know we have prayed for all of you daily as well.

A great day with the kids!

Multiple parts to our mission... (keep up the prayers)

First United Presbyterian Church has worked in cooperation with multiple villages to install water filtration systems in areas where it is needed. We were trained by Living Waters for the World. There are many villages that have access to water but it is not potable. The systems we install enable them to have clean water for their village. It is usually a multi-year process, the first year, we will scout a site (making sure there is a need). Next, we will build a building that can be used to install the system. Finally, we will install a system - training the village people on operation and maintenance as well as how properly use and distribute the water. Additionally, we always have a vacation bible school type program for all of the children in the community. 1) This year part of our team are putting a water filtration system in, in this small village of Veracruz, Quintana Roo which is several hours south of Cancun near the border of Mexico and Belize. 2) We have another group teaching the people of the village (today we had 12 ladies and 6 men) about the water system. 3) We also had about 30 kids today in our vacation bible school. We thank you all for the continued prayers of support for our team.

Church in Chetumal

New Jerusalem Church in Chetumal where we had worship and lunch was served by the congregation.

Beautiful Day

Beautiful sunrise captured by Roger Provost. Off to church this morning, then a visit to Caobas, site of the last water purification system installation, to see old friends there. Then we will head to our final destination to start work tomorrow in the village of Veracruz.
